Mae Testun testun[1] is a curatorial platform yn strwythur curadurol[2] for contemporary art/writing i feithrin sgwennu/celf gyfoes[3] in Wales yng Nghymru[4].

[2] It exists to test and build new sites for critically-engaged writing and discursive exchange around work taking place in the context of contemporary Wales. Its curatorial emphases are on the artist-led and extra-institutional, guided by interdisciplinary intimacies and an earnest orientation toward the possibility of a Welsh future. In a time of dwindling public resources, all-permeating cultural conservatism, and structural hostilility toward non-majoritarian artistic and political expressions, in Wales as elsewhere, Testun testun aims to create dialogic spaces from which new critical frameworks and vocabularies might be advanced: which are both rooted in conditions on the ground for artists and writers in Wales, and innately connected to global discourses and networks. ///// Ei bwrpas yw adeiladu safleoedd i gynhyrchu sgwennu a disgwrs gelfyddydol yng nghyd-destun y Gymru gyfoes. [3] ‘Art/writing’ is understood here as an expanded field of practice in which language is produced by, about, and alongside the work of contemporary artists. An incomplete list of the forms this expanded field encompasses could include: reviews, essays, interviews, profiles, fictions, poems, performance texts, scholarly papers, reports, zines, text-based installations, lectures, lists, letters, protest signs, voice-notes, memes, titles, captions, wall texts, &c, &c. ///// Caiff ‘sgwennu/celf’ ei ddefnyddio i ddisgrifio maes eang o bractis lle caiff iaith ei chynhyrchu gan, am, neu ochr yn ochr â gwaith artistiaid cyfoes. [4] ‘Wales’ is understood here as a small nation on the periphery of western Europe; a place of myriad internal contradictions and inequities; and a place whose lived contexts are both defined by a unique set of historical, cultural and political conditions, and intrinsically connected to international political currents, particularly among other small nations and minoritised political units.
